At 1 Wimpole Street we realise our venue and services have an impact on the environment around us. We are therefore committed to the implementation of an effective environmental system. As a visitor, we encourage you to support us where you can and outline a few suggestions below.
Public transport:
Our venue is located within a few minutes’ walk from Oxford Circus and Bond Street underground stations and numerous bus stops serving multiple routes throughout central London.
Cycling:
We have a secure bike storage facility; therefore you may like to cycle to our venue. Or, don’t forget you can register and hire a Santander Cycle, costing from just £2.
Responsible and locally sourced food products:
Enjoy your refreshments and meals knowing that the ingredients and products are seasonable, fresh, locally and responsibly sourced.
Reduce, re-use and recycle:
Our teams will recycle all appropriate products left in the rooms after your event. We also have recycling bins for paper, glass, cardboard, plastic, cans, batteries, and printer cartridges, throughout the building.
Conserve energy:
We encourage all guests to switch off lights and air conditioning units when you leave the room. If you forget, don’t worry our computerised Building Management System (BMS) will manage the controls appropriately. We procure electricity from 100% renewable energy sources, wind, biomass and solar.
Water:
Please use water wisely. When you have washed your hands, please ensure that taps are turned off. We encourage bedroom guests to reuse towels and reduce linen usage during their stay which in turn uses less water and detergent. We have aerators on taps and showers in the bedrooms to further reduce water usage.
Technology:
If you have guests who need to travel from afar, consider a hybrid solution to reduce the air miles and their carbon footprint. Our in-house team have extensive experience of hosting digital events to large audiences both onsite and remotely.
Respect the local area and nature:
Please dispose of litter respectfully and if you smoke outside the building, we have cigarette bins just inside the entrance.
Plastic reduction pledge:
We have signed up to the mia’s #20PercentLess pledge, committing to significantly reducing our single-use plastic.
